Yup, you heard me right! Send in the clowns, or Dream Doctors as they put it. An iniative by Haifa University in Israel and the Magi Foundation. They created a 3-year academic program in medical clowning for those who have a background in Theater Arts and Acting. Patch Adams, where are you from this?

I like this quote a lot! I took it from Obama’s recent speech to the American Medical Association:

“When it comes to the cost of our health care, then, the status quo is unsustainable. Reform is not a luxury, but a necessity. I know there has been much discussion about what reform would cost, and rightly so. This is a test of whether we – Democrats and Republicans alike – are serious about holding the line on new spending and restoring fiscal discipline.” – Obama, via

Obama highlighted two important actions in his plan of US health reform strategy:

  1. EMRs:
“we need to upgrade our medical records by switching from a paper to an electronic system of record keeping”
  2. Preventative Care:
“invest more in preventive care so that we can avoid illness and disease in the first place. That starts with each of us taking more responsibility for our health and the health of our children.”

Boy do I wish to hear someone here talking along the same lines as Obama that is in power and is in charge of taking action! WAKE UP!!!

This picture was taken recently, (April 24th, 2009) and published by the local newspaper, AlQabas. It shows a man helping his brother or father patient to some “cooler” air when the A/C broke in the AlSabah Hospital. I know things do not change all of a sudden and I’m sure many will agree that the Kuwaiti Public Healthcare System is going downhill, but disasters like this could’ve been avoided a long time ago with proper planning and thinking! Apparently the “maintenance engineers” haven’t done their homework!!

It’s sad to see this sort of reality when Kuwait can do much much better! A/C problems are not a joke here in Kuwait with summer “already” here, let alone for patients in hospitals .. Yesterday my car read 40°C!!!!!!
