Playing with Windows 7

I have had the opportunity to go to our repair workshop @ work, put a computer together from spare parts, format it’s 37 GB Hard Drive, and freshly install Windows 7  RC1 in 32-Bit OS!

At the moment it’s running on an Intel Pentium 4, 2.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM. Now I have to say that using spare/scarp parts, I put together a decent computer, but may not be the best. When running the performance test by Windows, (scale from 1-7.9) the computer was rated at 1.0!!! No applications have been installed yet, so more playing to come soon 🙂 I am yet to plug it in to a network/Internet and see how it interacts …

But I must say, with such low configurations, the system starts up quickly and the installation process was easy and fast. I was up and running in about 30 minutes or so! No issues with drivers or anything … surprisingly!

If you will, Windows 7 is an XP core with a lot of new cool bells and whistles, but themed as an elegant Vista.

  1. Great site, I now have you bookmarked to come back again.
