May 19th, 2009 will mark the World Hepatitis Day! Groups from all around the world will join efforts to raise awareness of this life-threatening disease.

“One in 12 people worldwide is afflicted with one or the other (Hepatities B or C) – 600,000 of them in Canada. While this is far higher than the prevalence of HIV or any cancer, awareness is inexplicably low and the majority of those infected are unaware.” – Canadian Hemophilia Society

A wonderful friend of our invited us to a facebook group that she is trying to market in Kuwait to raise awareness about Hepatitis. Here’s the link to the page on facebook.

Thanks Dimazzzzzzzzz 😀

Firstly I want to sincerely thank you for raising awareness of hepatitis B and C by sharing the ‘Am I Number 12?’ message with your readers. I work for the World Hepatitis Alliance, the organization behind World Hepatitis Day, and it really is great that you have taken the time to write about our campaign on your blog.

I’m currently on a tour around the world, learning about how different countries are tackling the diseases, which I’ve been documenting on the World Hepatitis Day blog.

Hepatitis B and C affects over 500 million people worldwide and raising awareness of this shocking statistic is key to encourage people to get tested.

Going forward we have a lot of online activity planned. For the Twitter users of the world we are providing an special icon that they can change on the day – May 19th. We also have a YouTube channel which has more information.

    Kind regards,
