Heartbeat monitoring over mobile

As I went through my routine reading on GoogleReader, I came across this interesting post by Darren Murph of Engadget. Patients in the U.S. will be offered a service from MedNet Healthcare Technologies; they will be able to send a report of their cardiac condition and hearthbeats to their cardiologists over the mobile network for a fee.

This sure is a great way to have your physician monitor you remotely, but I’ll have to agree with Murph that physicians and healthcare professionals can do without all the information load they have already! I think though this can be helpful for post-op/visit follow-ups with at-risk patients that could benefit from close remote monitoring.
