World Diabetes Day is almost here!

For those of you who may not be aware, November 14th will mark the World Diabetes Day! The International Diabetes Federation states that this campaign to the general public is:

“a call to understand the serious impact of diabetes and know, where possible, how to avoid or delay diabetes and its complications.”

In Kuwait, Ministry of Health and Dasman Center for Research and Treatment of Diabetes, will host a walk for diabetes on the 14th November @ 9 am. The walk will start from the Yacht’s Club to the Green Island on Gulf Road. This is a great way to support a cause and get exercise in the lovely weather we’re having nowadays :)

Catching the Wave

My friend, MBH, has just invited me to catch the Google Wave! Thanks MBH :)

I’m so excited to play around with it and see what good can come out of this! Let’s see what tricks this puppy can do :d

Oh Shnocks! The state of healthcare technology in ‘09 on Vimeo

The Healthcare Human Factors Group presents a montage of usability testing clips highlighting user frustration with healthcare technology.

Playing with Google’s Chrome OS!

At work today a colleague of mine gave me the .iso image for the Chrome OS LiveCD! It’s pretty sweet I tell you. I ran it as a virtual machine on VMWare with only 1 GB of RAM and it was amazing. I must admit though that I was over excited and forgot to change the memory configuration; it was left @ 256 MB!! The Virtual Machine ran slow, but was good for low-end web-browsing and word editing.

So far … Soooo GOOOOOOOOD! Google, I LOVE YOU ♥

Update: So as it turns out by many comments, which you can read below, This is NOT Google’s Chrome OS :( But hey, if it was, it would be cool anyway.

Now a street name @ Askar Refugee Camp

This is pretty sweet and for a great cause! By donating to Askar Refugee Camp, you’ll get a street named after whatever you want. I hope you’ll be respectful in choosing whatever you decide to have as a name :)

Checkout their website and donate now! Here’s a little about the cause:

“Askar is a refugee camp near the Palestinian city of Nablus. The refugee camp (established in 1950) became actually a densely populated town that lacks proper planning, facilities and streetnames. The families that live within the refugee camp have no hope to ever return to their abandoned homeland. With your support the Palestinian Child Care Society (PCCS) will complete and renovate the crumbling youth centre, wich is indispensable for the local youth that are born and live in poverty and social deprivation. A proper youth center with facilities for after school reception and activities will make the living of the children in Askar more bearable.”

I here claim to be the first Kuwaiti Blogger to have such street donated! :d

Win 7 is out here!

Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashed was “the” first Arab user to launch Windows 7 and use it in the Middle East! I however claim I was before him along with many others who tried the RC version :) None the less, let’s see what this new operating system will bring to us.

My view: Windows 7 = Light as XP + Vista Style!

For those of you who are interested in owning an original full version of the new OS, it’s out in Kuwait’s stores starting @ 41 KD or so. Enjoy!
